From trainee to PhD researcher in robotics!???? Meet Amandine – our Robotics Research Engineer and the newest face of Innovation Insider! Amandine Azzarello has been driving innovation at KION for the past six years. Based at our R&D hub in Chatellerault, France, she’s focused on developing automated components for our industrial trucks – especially those involving vision systems and mobile robot navigation. ?? What does that mean in practice? Amandine explores how automation can reduce the physical strain on forklift operators – or even replace repetitive tasks altogether. Her specialty: helping mobile robots "see" and move efficiently. She recently conducted a comparative study of five navigation methods – evaluating path length, energy use, and processing time. The result? A solution that meets industrial demands for efficiency and precision. Her research also led to: ? Pallet detection from 2 meters away with millimeter accuracy ? Object detection (e.g. cardboard boxes) with 1 cm precision These innovations will not only power the next generation of autonomous forklifts – they’re already providing valuable insights for automating production lines. Through her PhD, KION not only gained a reliable in-house expert for vision systems and robotics, but also a valuable academic partnership with a research lab for future challenges. Our CFO, Christian Harm, shares insights on our latest results: We achieved record order intake in Supply Chain Solutions in the second quarter and all key performance indicators are in line with our expectations. As of today, we therefore expect to achieve our outlook for financial year 2025. Our CEO Rob Smith emphasizes KION's role in world trade: "KION offers its customers the full spectrum of solutions to make their supply chains future-ready – flexible, resilient, and smart. KION is shaping world trade – globally, regionally, and locally – even in times of political and economic uncertainty." Anyone who’s ever juggled timelines, teams, and tough calls knows how demanding project management can be – and so does our Woman of the Month, Andrea Pollinger. As a Project Manager at Dematic, Andrea is responsible for coordinating cross-departmental tasks and resources – acting as a key link between teams and customers while keeping even the most complex projects on track. ?? Her recent highlight? One of her projects: The Regional Distribution Center in Kahl – a high-pressure project with ambitious deadlines and high expectations. Despite the intensity, Andrea and her team pulled together with incredible team spirit, supporting each other to deliver success.?? Working in a male-dominated industry has brought its challenges, but Andrea has mostly had positive experiences. “Regardless of gender, it’s your skills, mindset, and composure under pressure that make the difference – especially in project management,” she says. Cast parts for forklift trucks weighing between 800 and 7000 kilograms are produced here in shift operation. ?? The team of around 140 employees produces 60 counterweights every day - some weighing up to seven tons! These components, which are mainly manufactured for our subsidiary STILL, are then machined and painted. With a master’s degree in psychology, Hannah brings a unique perspective to HR Reporting. It‘s time for a mindset shift in AI! Our colleague Matthias Br?nner participated in a panel discussion at the German AI Summit, where he talked about the role of AI in industry, both in products and in internal processes. ?? ?? One of his key takeaways was that it’s time to shift our mindset. Instead of asking, “What can AI do?” we should ask, “What problem are we solving with AI?” Ultimately, it's not the technology itself that gives you an advantage; it's your ability to adapt. A great example of this is our collaboration with NVIDIA. By integrating their technology into our digital twin solutions, we help customers save time and operating costs.
